Gancho Karabadzhakov - painting exhibition. 75 years since his birth
Tuesday, 06 October - Thursday, 29 October
„"Art Gallery 33", Varna CenterOdessos, 2A "Gabrovo" Str., 9000 Varna, Bulgaria
There are artists whose presence continues long after their absence. Artists who left behind not just paintings, but their own world—recognizable, saturated with signs, colors, and images. Gancho Karabadzhakov is one of them.
Five years after his death and 75th anniversary of his birth This exhibition is an occasion to return to his work. The 18 works presented from the collection of Gallery 33 – Varna outline part of the vast territory of his artistic language and remind us of the power of an author who knew how to transform the visible world into a metaphor.
He creates a rich work inspired by tradition, mythology and modern life. His works such as "Samodiva", "Bolyarka", "August", "Zadyavka", "Na pasha" transport the viewer to a world of joy, deep symbolism and fairy-taleness. The color palette of his works is radiant, warm and attractive...75 years after his birth and 5 years after his death, Gancho Karabadzhakov continues to be present in Bulgarian art with his unique style - colorful, symbolic, ironic, poetic and deeply human.
This exhibition is a tribute to the artist, but also an invitation to the viewer — to enter his world and rediscover it with their own eyes.Exhibition period: 06.10-29.10.2026
